David returned to Tucson after living in Japan's active and boisterous Kansai region for 17 years. He has visited over 800 onsen hot springs and sentō bath houses across Japan and hiked a loop along the mountains that enclose the Osaka metropolitan area. His research interests combine second language acquisition, cultural geography, and university administration.
